Deheisheh Refugee Camp, West Bank, Occupied Palestine
This woman 60 years younger when she and her family were expelled from the village of Beit Natif in what is now considered "Israel." When she and her family arrived in Deheisheh camp is was a muddy hillside with tents haphazardly constructed as the new homes of Palestinians whose homes and villages were appropriated or destroyed by advancing Israeli forces, just months after the state of Israel was established. In fact, this woman was expelled from Beit Natif nearly two months before any Arab nation attacked Israel.
This photo is dedicated to all the Hajja (old women) in Palestinian refugee camps all over Palestine and the Arab world. May your liberation and return come swiftly. May you live to see your original villages.
