Beit Lehem, West Bank, Palestine
This building is home to a whole extended family that narrowly escaped having their house demolished as the Israelis destructively weaved the separation barrier through the Beit Lehem area, cutting families, less fortunate than this one, in half and cutting farmers off from their ancestral land, as well as tremendously restricting travel in and out of the Beit Lehem area. This towering monument to Israeli aspirations to cleanse Palestine of Palestinians is but a step in a pre-designed plan to create a Jewish ethnocratic state in the historic lands of Palestine. The German statement on the wall is telling: "Ich Bin Ein Berliner" (I am a Berliner). A smaller sinister parody on the wall, on the back side of the house, reads: "Do unto others as was done unto you?" A poignant question.
