A Palestinian olive grove near the Israeli separation barrier in the Beit Lehem are. Thousands of olive groves like this are currently threatened by various forms of the seemingly endless expansion of the "architecture of occupation" in the West Bank--by-pass roads, settlements, the separation barrier, sewage plants for settlements, and checkpoints are just some of the constructs of an ever growing system of control and separation in the West Bank that at once dispossesses Palestinians from their land and their right to self-determination, not to mention the repressive indignity it is to their humanity and culture. In the last forty years over a million olive and fruit trees have been uprooted or destroyed by the Israeli military and settler movement.
