From the Ashes of our Misery: A series on hope in the midst of occupation.
Gaza Beach, Occupied Gaza. Summer 2007.
To see children playing on the beaches of Gaza city is a beautiful and recently rare sight to see. The same beaches where a year ago a family of 18 was killed by misguided Isreali shells. The same beaches that were not worth the risk to travel to just a few weeks ago as Fatah and Hamas battled for control of Gaza. And the same beaches that will probably be less frequented once the 90% of Gazans that are dependent on UNRWA food for living can no longer collect the food they have grown dependent upon. Today, UNRWA in Gaza said that it would run out of food in a week. Gaza is literally being starved systematically. The human rights abuses that Israel is and will commit in Gaza should awaken the human conscience. Israel should be harshly sanctioned, diplomatically isolated, and forced to pay massive reparations. When millions of people are running out of food it is well past time for someone to do something...
...Never again. Never again...and then we watch as it happens again.
